Love and Luck 4 Picture Locket Necklace in Silver

A few years ago, I bought some vintage never-used silver lockets from a closing jewelry store.  I loved their shine, their ability to hold four pictures, their heart design that morphed into a four-leaf clover when they were open, etc.

I hung these lockets from a sterling silver-heart link chain and the results are fabulous (if I do say so myself).  They have also been selling with frequency and since I only have a few lockets left, I thought I would share them here.

You can purchase these necklace here

Mourning Locket

A few weeks ago, I received a message from Rene'e whose friend's husband had recently passed away.  Rene'e wanted to buy a locket to seal his ashes in. I though the idea was lovely and she ended up purchasing this  beautiful vintage locket from my shop:

Eternal Love

After much patience and a USPS mishap (obviously the original locket was lost in the mail), Rene'e contacted me to show me this amazing piece she had created with this vintage locket.

I was (and still am) so blown away by the beauty, love and artistry of this piece. Rene'e took a wonderful vintage locket and customized it for her friend. This is truly the definition of "vintage repurposed". I asked Rene's if I could share this piece with you and she happily agreed...yay!

Way to go Rene'e, your friend is lucky to have you!

Adventures in Thrifting

I've been meaning to post pictures of my finds from last weekend's supply-acquiring outtings...since last weekend.  Below is a picture of said finds:
The quality of this picture is awful but here you can see a GORGEOUS gold-filled heart locket and 6 vintage character charms.  I intend to hang the locket from a gold-filled chain and make a rockin' charm bracelet with the little enamel charms.  I also purchased a vintage brooch which I have already transformed into a necklace that I love:

This thrifting trip was super-special because it's the first trip to an estate sale that we made as an entire family (yes, kids included).  Going to estate sales always feels slighty voyeuristic to me; looking through kitchen cabinets, rifling through closets and drawers, fondling people's personal effects, but one this has become apparent to me - I LOVE a mudroom.  It's one of the rooms that excite me most in other's homes. A room you come into from the garage where there are hooks for coats and bins for shoes, perhaps even your washer and dryer live there.  The original plan of our house had such a room but when the previous owners remodeled it, they closed the mudroom off from the garage and turned it into a bedroom which we then turned into our home office.  I can't imagine life without my office but I still have mild yearnings for a mudroom...

Happy Good Friday!

Silver Fleur de Lis - Vintage Coro 4 Picture Locket Necklace

This is my newest creation!  It is a vintage silver-plated four picture locket. The signed Coro locket opens to hold four photos under metal frames and plastic lenses. The original photos are still present and can easily be removed and replaced with your treasures. The locket is hanging on a silver-plated rolo chain along with a sterling silver fleur de lis charm. There is a sterling silver springring closure as well as my signature "basilthecat" charm.

This necklace measures approximately 31 inches but can (easily) be shortened upon request. The locket hangs approximately 1.5 inches from the chain.

This necklace can be purchased via this link: http://www.etsy.com/listing/71935440/silver-fleur-de-lis-4-picture-coro
